NMI EXPANDS CAPACITY TO SERVE CUSTOMERS IN THE E-MOBILITY MARKET

The Netherlands Measurement Institute, NMi, has achieved designation as a German Notified Body for the Measurement and Calibration Act (Eichrecht, MessEG). This will allow NMi to further expand its capacity to serve customers in the e-mobility market and help in complying with current German EV Certification Specification regulations.

Independent conformity assessments bodies (CABs) such as NMi are essential to ensure products placed on the German market are compliant. “We are delighted and very proud of this designation. Rest assured that NMi is committed to performing the respective tasks with the diligence NMi is known for,” says Yvo Jansen, NMi CEO.

The scope of approval includes conformity assessment according to modules B, D and F, covering electricity meters for active and reactive energy, DC electricity meters, ancillary devices (Zusatzeinrichtungen) as well as AC and DC EV Charging Systems.

Henri Schouten, NMi, says, “NMi’s new status as a German Notified Body for MessEG is an important step in expanding our e-mobility capabilities in European markets. The B+D certification of EVCS according to MessEG is currently only valid for the German market yet given the lack of a globally accepted certification scheme, it can serve as a solid basis for acceptance in other EU countries. We look forward to working with new and existing clients in this market.”

Sean Lui of Tesla says, “With the rapid expansion of EV charging points across the EU, ensuring their accuracy remains vital. Tesla welcomes the news that NMi has obtained Notified Body status in Germany for MessEG, helping us to offer peace of mind to EV owners that their purchase of electricity is accurate.”
