How to calibrate a scale

What is calibration for?

Whether in the chemical, pharmaceutical, trade, laboratories, among other sectors, calibration of the scales is essential to obtain accurate and completely reliable results. It guarantees that your business does not have losses resulting from incorrect weighing and at the same time ensures good relations with your customers.

How is calibration done?

It is a comparison between the results obtained when weighing an instrument – standard mass – and the reference value of that standard mass.

For example, if we place a standard weight of 10 kg, the indicated value should be this. The difference between 10 kg and the weighing result is called the indication error.

The specialized entity for carrying out the calibration then issues a certificate that proves that the scale complies with the weighing standards.

If it does not meet the necessary requirements, the scale must be properly repaired and adjusted by the authorized organization.

Not giving the real importance to calibration is a risk factor for your company, besides the payment or restrictions causes by fines, it affects production, transparency and the quality of results.
