Charcroft Electronics acquires Sensor Techniques

The range of load cells and strain gauges available from Charcroft Electronics has increased with the acquisition of Sensor Techniques.

Charcroft is a privately-owned,  distributor and manufacturer of electronic components, including passive, interconnect, electromechanical and optoelectronic components, load cells and strain gauges, power supplies and rugged semiconductors.


Sensor Techniques is a distributor of load cells and strain gauges for use in industrial, harsh and ATEX-rated environments has served customers in varied sectors, from automotive and transport weighbridges, elevated platforms, scissor lifts and agricultural weighing and tensioning applications.


In addition to precision load cells and strain gauges, the company offers mounting arrangements and controllers, intelligent high-speed load cell amplifiers and state-of-the-art weighing indicators to simplify procurement and design.


Charcroft has a BS-approved production facility in the UK where it manufactures custom passive assemblies, audio and precision foil resistors, silver mica and legacy ceramic capacitors. The facility is a VPG-approved Precision centre for Bulk Metal Foil resistors and offers taping and reeling, in addition to Precision Express manufacturing for prototype and pre-production quantities. The company is certified to AS 9120 and approved to BS 9000 and BS EN ISO 9001:2015


Sensor Techniques’ founder, Rob Forrest, explained “Charcroft is a specialist distributor and manufacturer or high-reliability components and also has maintained a long-term franchise with [load cells and force sensor manufacturer] VPG. This franchise has provided vital experience in supporting customers for load cells from Tedea Huntleigh, Sensortronics, Celtron and Revere,” he said.


Charcroft’s director, Debbie Rowland, confirmed Rob “will continue to work closely with Charcroft to add decades of expertise to the knowledge of our established team of field-based engineers, which includes sensor specialist, Matt Fellows.”
